Traffic officer ran over by the taxi

The North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management MEC Sello Lehari regrets an incident where a traffic officer was ran over by the taxi.

The officer was on duty on N18 between Lekoko and Madiba a Makgabana villages when he was trying to stop a taxi. He was run over and was immediately taken to the hospital. Six passengers from the taxi were injured and were also taken to the hospital. The incident happened around 16:50 on Friday, January 03. 2020.

MEC Lehari wished speedy recovery to the officer and the injured passengers. “It is regrettable that we have to start the year in such sad news. We wish all the injured including our officer speedy recovery”.

MEC Lehari once more implored on road users to be responsible and drive sensibly. The preliminary statistics show that the Province is still about 29% less than the same period last year.
